Updated the blog…

Well I wanted the blog to have all my MV resources and now it does.  Just go to the RPG Maker MV tab and you can access the graphics and see that you can now get to all my icons, tiles, characters, etc. that I previously published on RPGMakerWeb.  Hoping to make some tutorials, but I haven’t gotten any good ideas yet.

I may decide to make a fancier banner one day, but the simplicity of this just makes me happy, so I doubt I will change it anytime soon.

A new tutorial I wrote…

So I finally finished a tutorial for Direction Based Line of Sight Events.

This tutorial teaches you some Conditional Branch script calls (default RPG Maker Ace scripts, though I think you could use these in VX, but I haven’t tested it).  There is also a project that you can download to help you follow along (the file also includes the tutorial in various text formats for those who don’t stay on the internet all the time).

It includes four simple examples that show examples of various lines of sight with adjustable ranges I came up with to teach the basic concepts:

  1. A Triangular Line of Sight
  2. A Basic Line of Sight
  3. A Wide Line of Sight
  4. A Not Touching Line of Sight

And four more complex examples to show some possible uses:

  1. A Chase/ Tag event that can be used for a tag mini game
  2. An Assassin Event that allows you to take enemies out by hitting them from the side or behind using the C Button (Z, Enter, or Space bar on the key board)
  3. A Surprise Battle Event that allows you to surprise the enemy, but they can also surprise you
  4. A Zapper Event that is basically a trap that can be evaded, but will damage the player if they do not.

Yami is working on a new Sideview Battle System, always good to have more options there

Exciting news for Yanfly fans, Archeia Nessiah from Division Heaven along with Yami have started to Bug Fix Yanfly’s scripts while Yanfly is away.  Now I have to remember the few glitches I have come across, so I can report them (damned memory)

Speaking of Division Heaven there’s been some new updates for the Spiritual portrait set (with the hope of more to come) and a Demo now for the Emotion Manipulation Magic tutorial

Victor Sant has been pumping out lots of really great scripts lately, the Action Series, the State Series, and the Element Series (and more) are all very useful I am especially pleased to see Element Set script, which allows you to set multiple elements to skills (why that isn’t standard in Ace baffles the hell out of me)

and Finally some new joyful portraits by Tatanya at the RM collective

Nothing important…

So my blog has officially had more than 10,000 visits in less than the 6 months it has existed and the visitors are from more than 30 different countries.

I know some of you won’t find that as amazing, but since this is my first blog, I think that’s pretty nifty.

Recently I’ve been working on making floating icons out of the RTP icon set and making an eventing tutorial on on various ways to include a sneaking mechanic in your game.  Also looking to finally update my previous tutorials, because I know how to use Ace better now.

Franken Battler Fun…

I’ve been dinking around with editing the thief_f battler.  Here’s a couple I’ve come up with:

I’m open to suggestions, if you have any.

Stuff you may have missed:

Lunara made some handy statue edits.  Great for puzzles and general decoration.

Yami adds more to her Guardian Series: Esper Learning.  This is so Final Fantasy 6 and well I love FF6 so that’s a good thing.  Also a nifty title screen script:  Title Decoration this is handy for those artistic types who want to customize their title screen, letting you use and image for each of the commands (New Game, Continue, etc)

Molegato shows us some more art from his game – Instead of Dreaming.  Damn this game looks to be so cool.

Sourve isn’t dead and is starting to take suggestions again.  Check out the site if you haven’t before (lots of good graphics) and suggest something.

Elemental Action Icons…

So I decided to distract myself by making some elemental action icons for the weapons, shields, some of the tools, and the music instruments in the RTP.

These are some recolored bases made from the RTP icon bases.  So you can make other icons for things not in the RTP (such as from the Samurai VX resource pack)

These are reduced weapon, shield, some tools and the music instrument icons so they fit on bases a little better.  Basically they were reduced to 18 x 18 and then re-centered on a 24 x 24 grid.  You can just paste these on top of any base you desire.

Mitchi’s Sprite Outliner GIMP script was used on all of these icons so make sure to credit him as well.
